Kuha Phimuk Temple

Khuha Phimuk Temple or Wat Na Tham is located in Na Tham Subdistrict. It is an important sanctuary of the south, similar to Wat Phra Mahathat in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya in Surat Thani. This indicates the prosperity of Buddhism in this area since the Srivijaya era. The temple area is shady with a stream flowing through. The staircase leads up to the cave entrance, where there is a statue of a giant, known locally as 'Chao Khao,' built in 1941. Inside the cave, there is a large hall-like area converted into a religious site. The cave has a skylight that allows sunlight to filter through beautifully. The reclining Buddha image inside the cave is believed to have been constructed around 1300 AD during the Srivijaya period, measuring 81 feet 1 inch in length. It was initially a Vishnu Reclining Image but was later converted into a Hinayana-style Reclining Buddha Image.
