Yala Central Mosque

The Yala Central Mosque, also known as Masjid Ra'atul Yannah, is the main mosque in Yala Province. Every Sunday morning, you can see Muslim residents from various areas, both near and far, coming together to perform religious duties, study Islam, and learn the teachings and practices of the faith inside the mosque. This majestic mosque has become a source of pride for the people of southern Thailand. To learn about the history of this mosque, we must go back to 1925 (BE 2468), when Mr. Osman Dohae purchased a 250-square-wah plot of land in the Satung Subdistrict, Muang Yala District. After acquiring the land, he declared that whoever wanted to build a mosque could use the land as a gift. Upon his death, a mosque was built on his land, with Haji Abdulhamid Abdul Samad serving as the imam at that time. The mosque was named Masjid Ra'atul Yannah. In 1956 (BE 2499), the Thai government allocated funding to expand the mosque, allowing it to accommodate up to 300 people.
